Q: Why has PCDL reduced its hours? Why don't I see many new books?

A: Funding for Ohio libraries comes primarily from the state of Ohio through the Public Library Fund. This fund receives 2.22% of the General Revenue Fund.
Besides the natural reduction of income caused by the economy, in July, 2009 the Public Library Fund has also been permanently been reduced by 11%. Since 2007, PCDL has lost 25% of our General Fund. This is why we have had to reduce our hours and material purchases.
