Preble County is on the Ohio/Indiana border. It is a county of predominantly small businesses and farms. The cost of living is low and the atmosphere is small town. It has a branch of Sinclair Community College. It is a beautiful county with Hueston Woods State Park in the southern corner. Eaton is the county seat and has a population of about 8000. Richmond, IN is 20 minutes away, Dayton is about 30 minutes away and Cincinnati is about 50 miles from Eaton.

Preble County District Library has seven branches and an administrative office which is also home to our genealogical research center and a computer lab/meeting room. Our library catalog serves four of the county school systems as well as one of the independent public libraries in our county. Our focus is community service through outreach and cooperation.

The Preble County District Library does a background check on all employees and volunteers who work in our library system.

If a candidate's background check reveals any sexual misconduct and any felony criminal conduct they will be disqualified for employment.
